The History of Go West Creative Group
The 1980s
In 1984 David Fischette, along with his partner Mike Block, began Audio Ecstasy (a Mobile Disc Jockey company) in David's parents' garage. Two years later, David went solo. In July 1988, Robin joined the organization and together they made the decision to concentrate the business on servicing corporate clients.
This shift in focus paid off when Audio Ecstasy became the in-house vendor for Universal Studios Hollywood shortly thereafter. By the late 1980s Audio Ecstasy had become one of the largest mobile DJ companies in California with more than 1,100 events a year and a crew of 25 emcees and disc jockeys.
The 1990s
Westlake Davvar Corporation International, Inc., a California Corporation (WDCI) was founded in 1992 and by 1993 it was producing larger scale events. In 1994, GO West Event Production was formed and became a sister Company to Audio Ecstasy.
By the middle of the decade, David began working more and more with video production and in 1996, partnering with television producer Michael Warren, and wife Rita, opened a full video production facility under the name Digital Spectrum. In May 1999, Digital Spectrum became the third sister in the WDCI family.
The New Century
As the business began focusing more on total event production rather than just providing the services of a disc jockey, David and Robin closed the Audio Ecstasy doors in 2000. All entertainment services were then provided through the GO West Events Entertainment Division.
In 2000, Digital Spectrum breaks new ground in corporate America by using satellite technology to create a multi-city virtual conference. The completely interactive live presentation connected 7 cities per day (for 7 days total) and reached over 11,000 audience members.
David and Robin eventually took full ownership of Digital Spectrum’s multimedia and production assets and incorporated it under the new company name of GO West Events and Multimedia (GWEM).
GWEM was a leader in its field that provided a full spectrum of marketing and event production services to its clients as well as the industry itself. In 2004, GWEM reached new heights as their achievements grabbed the attention of their peers. They produced the Spotlight Awards Ceremony for the 3rd consecutive year, unveiled their new product line “Synchronology” at the 2004 Event Solutions EXPO, as well as rolled out “Tapnology” at the annual Spotlight Awards and Gala, at which David was named “Event Producer of the Year”.
The following year, five members of the GWEM staff were Spotlight Award Finalists. Rick Borja was awarded the 2005 Spotlight Award for “Technical Producer of the Year”.
In 2006, GWEM was awarded the coveted honor of “Event Company of the Year.”
In 2011, David and Robin, along with the guidance of Kimberly Chasan Duffy, decided to rebrand GO West Events and Multimedia and rename the Company Go West Creative Group (GWCG).
