Company History
Founded in 1916, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences has a long and proud tradition of providing exemplary educational opportunities to its students. The private, not-for-profit University is composed of two colleges, the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Biosciences.
The College of Osteopathic Medicine ranks as one of the oldest and largest of the nation’s 26 osteopathic colleges. The College of Osteopathic Medicine is the oldest medical school in Kansas City, Mo., and with approximately 1000 students, ranks as the largest in the state of Missouri. More than 7,000 physicians have graduated from KCUMB. The University, which graduates 200-250 highly qualified osteopathic physicians each year, partners with local healthcare systems in the clinical education of third and fourth-year students.
The College of Biosciences’ multiple degree programs, including the Master of Science in biomedical sciences, provide students hands-on opportunities to learn technologically advanced skills, preparing students for research careers and providing a solid foundation of knowledge to carry them into doctoral programs.
KCUMB employees play an active part in the Kansas City community by volunteering for various organizations, and the University serves as one of ten key stakeholders in the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute.
Located in Kansas City’s historic Northeast Neighborhood, the University’s beautifully landscaped campus is just minutes from downtown and provides free parking and 24-hour security.
With nearly 300 employees, KCUMB offers highly competitive compensation and benefits, with many excellent opportunities for advancement for those who excel.
