Main Event Caterers is a full service off premise caterer specializing in social, corporate and special events. Our award-winning culinary style, exceptional quality and unique vision makes us an industry leader in producing beautifully presented and delicious cuisine. Our menus are vibrant, fresh, and always tailored to the occasion. We are constantly innovating and developing new dishes using seasonal, regional, and international inspirations.
We are the first Green caterer in the Washington area practicing a wide range of sustainable business practices including the use of compostable disposables (non-plastics), reducing our landfill contribution by 70% via our recycling efforts, becoming 100% wind powered as well as 100% carbon neutral, just to name a few. In the interest of offering alternatives for others who share our social consciousness, our menu includes Organics, Vegetarian, Vegan, and Raw Fare as well as Free-Range Natural Meats and Sustainable Fish.
Main Event Caterers is a preferred caterer for such venues as The Corcoran Gallery, DAR, The Library of Congress, Mellon Auditorium, National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Presidential Yacht Sequoia, The Smithsonian Museums, Torpedo Factory and Top of the Town, just to name a few.
Company History
What started out as a poolside Tiki bar by Chef Joel Thevoz in 1994 has grown to a multi-million dollar business that caters to some of the most influential clients at some of the most prestigious locations in the Washington DC area.
As one of the few chef-owned catering companies in the area Main Event Caterers is in a unique position of being able to offer cutting edge menus and presentation concepts. We are the only known company in the Washington Metro area employing a Creative Director whose sole responsibility is to work in tandem with our Event Designers to create the vision of each individual client.
