Description
BOMA Greater Dallas (BGD) is a 501c6 organization representing commercial building owners and managers, and suppliers that support the industry, in Dallas and surrounding areas. The association also supports BOMA Dallas Foundation, a 501c3 charity that provides education and scholarships, and the Dallas BOMA Political Action Committee. BGD delivers a robust portfolio of programs and events, including a premier annual trade show, four sporting tournaments, a formal awards ceremony, monthly luncheons, and signature Foundation events such as the 5K fun run and annual gala.
BOMA Greater Dallas is seeking an education and events manager to support the programs of the association, the foundation and the political action committee. Reporting directly to the executive director, the person in this position is responsible for:
- Working with committees and staff in developing all aspects of education, networking, and program events, including the Association’s annual trade show.
- Assisting the Executive Director with the administration of the Association's sponsorship program.
- Managing the organization's awards process.
Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, the following:
- Owner of all logistical aspects of Association networking events, educational programs and the trade show.
- Event management includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with the committees to ensure the success of each networking event.
- Creating and communicating event timelines, key dates, roles and deadlines.
- Negotiating and reviewing of all contracts and invoice reconciliations.
- Managing the budget.
- Providing information to the support team for marketing materials.
- Coordinating, monitoring, and supporting PAC-related fundraising activities and events as needed.
- Responsibility for all aspects of the event set up in the AMS.
- Education management includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with the assigned Committees or Committee Staff Liaison for other committees to ensure the success of each education event.
- Negotiating and reviewing all contracts and reconciling invoices.
- Managing the budget.
- Providing information to the support team for marketing materials.
- Owning the continuing education certification process.
- Responsibility for all aspects of the event set up in the AMS.
- Manage sponsorship marketing and registration for each activity.
- Liaison to assigned Committees to support their success in the achievement of the Association Strategic Plan.
- Answer, accept and/or direct all incoming calls.
- Other duties as assigned to contribute to the effectiveness, efficiency, and growth of the office and the Association.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Five years of experience in event management is required.
- Holding the Certified Meeting Planning or other industry designation desired.
- Professional computer skills, including experience with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with association management systems and Adobe InDesign preferred.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, climb, and lift items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and a valid driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of an associate degree required.

- Strong communication skills.
- Marketing experience preferred.
